Edgar Hull Frederic, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and accomplished chemical engineer, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, at the age of 93.A proud graduate of Georgia Tech, Class of 1955, Edgar dedicated his entire professional life to Ethyl Corporation, later Albemarle, where his expertise and integrity left a lasting mark on the field of chemical engineering. His career was defined not only by technical excellence but also by the kindness and generosity he extended to colleagues and friends alike.Edgar was predeceased by his beloved wives, Mildred Fillers Frederic and Charlene Phillips Frederic. He is survived by his loving daughters, Leslie Durr (Aubrey) and Tracey Thornton (Dale); stepsons Mark Phillips and Scott Phillips (Laura); and stepdaughter Sandra Phillips. His legacy continues through his cherished granddaughters Lauren Durr Moreton (Dane), Madeline Durr, Natalie Thornton, and Naomi Thornton, and his great-granddaughters Elisa Roney and Sydney Moreton.Edgar will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering generosity, and the quiet strength with which he supported those around him. His life was a testament to dedication, love, and the enduring power of kindness.He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ed was a very influential colleague in my early career with Ethyl Corporation. He was the one who put me on the team that headed to Belgium to commission and start-up the LAO unit in Feluy. That assignment led to a very rich and fulfilling career in the chemical industry. He was a very calm, kind, and sincere boss and mentor.
