Richard Russell Butler

April 25, 1934 ~ October 27, 2025

Richard Russell Butler, age 91, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior, with his wife by his side. Born on April 25, 1934, Richard was the beloved son of the late Isaac Butler and Nora Butler. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who cherished his family deeply and lived a life marked by kindness, integrity, and faith. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Alma Butler; his son Kirk Butler and his grandsons Mitchell (Sandra) Butler and Zachary Butler. His extended family members: Marsha (Steve) Huelsbeck and their children: Ian Paul Huelsbeck, Isabella Huelsbeck, and William Huelsbeck. He is also survived by his younger brother Jimmy (Pat) Butler, along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Nora Butler, 7 older sibling and his daughter Rachel Pryor. Richard retired from AT&T after 35 years of dedicated service. In his retirement, he enjoyed life to the fullest—spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and appreciating nature. However, his greatest joy came from traveling and creating memories with his wife and family. Richard will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the love he shared with everyone who knew him. His legacy of warmth and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. The family takes comfort in knowing that Richard is now at peace in the presence of his Lord. Amen. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations are made to Red Cross. https://www.redcross.org/donate/holiday-giving/giving-tuesday.html/

Guestbook

  1. Richard always greeted me as I came to the house to do the yard work for them. He always had a story to tell me and I loved hearing it.
I will surely miss them moments and his kindness and my love that I have for him. It will never be the same going over to there house and not getting to talk with him. I love you always Richard. Meet you on the other side ❤️❤️❤️

  2. John,Nikki,Emma,Georgia says:

Planted in honor of Richard, whose memory will forever be a blessing.

  3. With heartfelt condolences and prayers for Gods strength during this difficult time.

  4. When I would visit Richard greeted me with a smile. He was always friendly and knowledgeable about a lot of subjects. Before his illness he worked hard around their house and was very talented in that area. I think he and Alma had a good, loving relationship and enjoyed being together. May his family keep the good memories in their hearts.

  5. Yoshiro, Emi, Marie, Keishi Yajima says:

  6. Rest in peace my friend. I celebrate Richard , his gentle, loving life. He is truly at peace with our Lord.

  7. Mary Jackson and Keith and Neda Jackson says:

Our deepest condolences. With love and hugs. Our prayers are with you and the family.

  8. Richard was my brother-in-law for more than 50 years. During those years he visited his late brother, Fred, and I many times. We shared fishing and crabbing trips in Alaska, visits in Georgia and Florida, and many “touch base ” phone calls over the years.
After Fred passed away and I moved back to Georgia, Richard and Alma were always there for me with support and lots of love ❤️. He will be missed.

  9. Richard was a good friend and made working for him a real pleasure. He invited my wife and I to his place in Salt Springs, where fixed the best breakfast I ever had. I’ll miss him. Cliff Bell

  10. Jonathan and Jamie Rostas says:
