Roey, Harriett Louvenia (nee Campbell), age 86, passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2026, surrounded by family at her home in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Harriett was born on March 28, 1939, in Salisbury, North Carolina, the second child of Thomas Lee Campbell Sr. and Stella Campbell (nee Hudspeth). She is predeceased by her parents, sister Billie (Beattie), nephew Ed Beattie and her husband's Daniel (Danny) Roey, John Lammond and Kenneth (Kenny) Clapper. Harriett is lovingly remembered by her sons Phillip Thomas Roey and James Anthony Roey, along with grandchildren Jennifer Spivey, Chelsey Black, Krista Stevenson and Emma Buchheim, also her great grandchildren Hunter Soukup, Dylan Spivey, Abigail Smith, Piper Black and Axel Black. She is also survived by two nephews and two nieces.
Harriett moved with her mother from North Carolina to New Jersey when she was a child. She worked in the food service industry, eventually co-owning (with Danny) Roey’s Drive In restaurant in Lakewood, New Jersey. She worked daily at the restaurant until she sold it in 2008. She then worked as a bus aide for handicapped and special needs children until she was forced to retire due to health issues in 2023.
Harriett will be remembered for her giving nature and love of animals, particularly cats. Besides having them as pets, she fed stray cats daily. At various times she also fed swans, ducks, geese, turtles, birds, groundhogs, skunks, racoons and any hungry animal that she could.
Although animals were her “soft spot”, Harriett loved people just as much. She easily made friends wherever she went, often becoming a close confidant and advisor to them. If she was your friend, you had a friend for life.
In her later years, after Kenny passed, Harriett had the opportunity to travel the world with her friend Rex Wilson and walked several marathons with him. Her happiest moments, however, were spent with Kenny on his boat (Seagull), fishing and watching fireworks off the Jersey coast.
In accordance with Harriett’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Instead, later this year, there will be a Celebration of Life in New Jersey. Her ashes will be joined with Kenny’s during that time.

I grew up being neighbors with Harriet . She offered me my first job as a waitress when I was in High School. She was always like a second mom to me and really cared about me . She was always ready to listen to things and help with her wonderful advice.
I reconnected with her recently and will miss her ❤️
