Frieda M. Sullivan Currao

November 27, 1938 ~ January 25, 2026

Frieda Mary Sullivan Currao, born in Brooklyn, New York on November 27, 1938, passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2026, after a long illness. Frieda attended high school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Brooklyn. After graduating, she worked as an executive secretary at several companies in Manhattan and Brooklyn. When Frieda was a teenager, she lived in Red Hook, Brooklyn with her grandmother and mother. She spent summers in the mountains of Pennsylvania - she loved the outdoors and had a passion for nature. She met the love of her life, Vince Currao, through a family member who lived in the same building as her in Red Hook. Frieda and Vince were together for 64 years and their deep love for each other was obvious; they loved being together and traveling extensively around the world with family and friends. Frieda was mother to Maureen (Alex) and Vincent Jr. (Amy). She always said their births changed her life for the better and they felt that in her love and support. She took special joy in spending time with her grandchildren, Molly (Sourish), Alex (Nicole), Julianna [with whom she shared a birthday] and Henry. Frieda loved being with her family and friends and just chit-chatting. She loved to shop (Dollar Store and T.J. Maxx were her favorites) and to bake goodies for friends and family. She was an avid reader and history buff. Frieda was very proud of her Irish heritage - making multiple trips to visit family in Ireland. St. Patrick’s Day was one of her favorite days of the year. Her smile was infectious, she never met a stranger, and she was a hugger. Frieda was preceded in death by her mother and father and is survived by her husband, daughter, son, and grandchildren. A funeral mass is scheduled at St. Joseph’s Church in Marietta at 10:00am on Friday, February 6, 2026. Per church policy, flowers are not permitted in the church sanctuary. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

  2. Mrs. C as I referred to her, was a joy to be around. We didn’t get to spend a ton of time with her but when we did she was always warm and welcoming. During one of our last times together our grandson was visiting and we brought him to Maureen and Alex’s to swim. Mrs. C had never met Zyan but arrived bearing many gifts (spoiled him), and loved on him like he was an everyday part of her life.
I’ll never forget that day. Rest with the Angels Mrs
    C. You will be missed ❤️ 🙏🏾

  3. I met Frieda through her dear friend Eleanor. Frieda was a delight!! Never stopped smiling. Always caring for and giving to others. We spent Ele’s 2025 birthday at a wonderful brunch with many ladies that Frieda never met prior. They all fell in love with her!
I’ll miss her laughter and heart – and I cherish the beautiful scarf she gave me “just because”.
So glad I could spend a wonderful weekend in NYC with her and Maureen in 2016 celebrating Ele’s 80th birthday. 🙏🏼❤️

  8. Freda loved everyone. I never heard her speak unkindly of anyone. She lit up our little neighborhood. When she and Vince moved, it felt as though a little light had flickered out.

  9. Freida lived across the road from me in Kennesaw. Some weeks we would car pool to coloring together. We lost a great Friend and Lovely Lady when Freida went home to be with her Parents. RIP Freida🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
