Harry Paul Dies Jr. passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2026.
Born August 26, 1959 in Christian, Tennessee, Paul lived a life defined by service, dedication, anddeep love for his family and country. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce, and father,Harry Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Jill, his cherished daughter, Jenny; his sister, Vicky Davis; as well as other cherished family members and friends.
Paul will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a man of unwaveringcharacter. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Military Intelligence Officer, completingtours of duty in the United States, Europe, and Asia, with deployments to the Middle East.During his military service, he held tactical intelligence and leadership positions, includingservice in the 197th Infantry Brigade at Fort Benning, Georgia, and as a U.S. Army IntelligenceOfficer at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he worked alongside elements of the 5th and 7thSpecial Forces Groups.
After retiring from the military, Paul continued serving through civilian and Department ofDefense work, including time as a civilian contractor and counterintelligence advisor in Iraq,supporting the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and the 25th Infantry Division. Hiscommitment to duty and country never wavered, even after official retirement.
In addition to his service, Paul was also a published author. His book, Saigon Haunting,thoughtfully captures the struggles of the Vietnam War and the lasting toll of survival. Paul wasa proud student of military history, particularly the Korean and Vietnam wars, and had a deeprespect for the generations in his family who served, including his father, Harry P. Dies Sr., whoserved in the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, and his uncles, Jim “Junior” DiesJr. and John Carney Dies, who served in the Korean War.
Paul’s life was one of honor, sacrifice, and love, and his legacy lives on in the family he adored,the country he served, and the words he left behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in Paul’s name to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
