John David "Dave" House Jr., age 70, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, in Marietta, Georgia. He was born on June 26, 1955, in Rome, Georgia. He lived a life filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife Ann; his daughter Katherine Evans and son-in-law Robert Evans; his son John House; and his treasured grandchildren Liam Evans and Copeland "CoCo" Evans. He also leaves behind his sisters, Sherry Jones (Dave Jones) and Jann Curl (Dan Curl), as well as many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Myrtle House; his sister Melinda Jameson; and his nephew Ryan Tatum.
A proud graduate of Berry College in 1978, it was there that Dave met Ann, the love of his life. Their marriage of 46 years was a beautiful testament to their enduring bond and shared journey. Together, they built a family that brought Dave immense joy. Dave worked at the Georgia Crime Information Center, a division of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) for 30 years and retired in 2012.
Dave found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time at his second home on St. Simons Island and enjoyed the beach. A talented cook, he delighted family and friends with favorite dishes like pesto, spaghetti and meatballs, and lasagna. He cherished being "GranDave" to Liam and CoCo, treasuring every moment with them.
Dave’s warmth and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Everyone loved them some Dave House! I can still hear his laugh and how he said “Ann” when he wanted her attention. He had an infectious smile and always made me smile. I also loved eating his cooking! I will miss him dearly. May he rest in peace!
Melinda and I had the privilege to have Dave and Ann visit us in Tennessee for his 55th birthday. He let us all know he was officially a double nickel. There was a firework show that night provided by the local firework stand. Dave was convinced the fireworks were for his birthday party. Dave had so much fun and let us know that this was one of his favorite birthday parties. He referred to our local area as “MemphaSippi” because we lived in the Memphis area and we were originally from Mississippi. Dave was so much fun to be around and we always had a good laugh together. The photo attached is one of our celebrations in Nashville. You will forever be remembered Dave. Thank you for being our friend.
Our Sympathies to the House family.

The family is in our thoughts and prayers. We are sorry for your loss.
I wrote this several times as I tried to capture some of my love for Dave and Ann. I recall all the wonderful memories I have. I watched Dave and Ann’s children grow up, mature, and turn into the wonderful young woman and man that Katherine and John have become. This was because of Dave and Ann’s wonderful parenting skills. Melinda and I spent so many fond and happy hours with Dave and Ann. In St. Simons where they generously shared their beautiful condo with us, and with my family. In Marietta, at their home, for one of Dave’s fabulous culinary masterpieces. During a family holiday gathering. At our home, where we talked and laughed and played a board game or a hand of cards. It really did not matter where we were – it was always a great time, full of love and laughs. He was always so generous with his wisdom, his mastery in the kitchen and his hardy laugh. Dave’s care and concern and love for all his family was always easily seen. Some of the fondest memories I have are back at the cabin. Melinda and I spent almost every wedding anniversary there on July 2nd. On the 4th of July, the whole family would come out and spend the holiday with Dave supplying the most delicious Boston Butt and Nana’s Brunswick stew for a barbeque that couldn’t be beat. With Papa’s military service and general patriotism of the entire family (as they served our country as well) – July 4th was always a big holiday. Cranking ice cream, dodging the hummingbirds, fishing or swimming in the pond and sitting on the porch – talking and laughing and basking in the love of this family I was so lucky to be allowed to be made a part of. Dave will be welcomed to his reward in Heaven by his parents and Melinda and Ryan and others and that is a comforting thought to me. No more pain and fighting and suffering as Dave fought hard to the very end. I hope it is off some small solace to you – Ann, Katherine and John. Always keep in mind that one day – we will all be together again. I love you all.
Dave, thank you for sharing with me your love of cooking and gardening, and your love of your family.
