Helen Gayle Baker

Helen Gayle Baker of Woodstock, Georgia, left us to be with the Lord on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born in Gadsden, Alabama on July 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Margaret Beason of Chattanooga, Tennessee.  She was a 1959 graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and attended Tennessee Technological University.

She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Bobby Baker in 1961. They shared 52 years of marriage until his death on March 14, 2017.

During their marriage, Gayle worked in various roles, including homemaker and office manager, before joining the State Bar of Georgia in 1978. She retired as Membership Director after more than twenty-five years of dedicated service.

An active member of the Christian faith, Gayle was a longtime attendee and participant at the former Northside Christian Church in Marietta. She was a talented pianist and cherished choir member. Her hobbies included traveling with her husband, avid reading, and taking care of her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Baker; her parents, Donald and Margaret Beason; and her sister, Carole Norman.

Survivors include three children: Michael Baker of Dallas; Cynthia Fisher of Woodstock; and Amanda Widdel of Cartersville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hill, 1861 Dallas Highway SW, Marietta, Georgia 30064. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.
