John Richard Crook

February 12, 1949 ~ August 3, 2026

John Richard Crook, 77, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026.

Born in Kyoto, Japan, in 1949, John’s life took him across the world before eventually making the United States his home. He spent nearly 30 years in Palm Springs, California, where he built lasting friendships and memories before later settling in Georgia.

John believed in honest work and spent his life supporting himself and his sons through a variety of occupations. For ten years, he managed a Bookland bookstore. He later spent another decade working in a liquor store and held several other positions throughout his working years, always willing to do what was necessary to provide.

John was a quiet, private man who preferred a simple life. He was never one to seek the spotlight and was most comfortable keeping to himself. Those who knew him appreciated his reserved nature, dry sense of humor, and steady presence.

Above all, John was a father. He is survived by his sons, Gallagher Crook and Paul Crook; his brothers, Robert Crook and Jackson Crook; his sister, Marie Robinson; and family and friends who will remember him in their own unique ways. Like many families, theirs was not without its challenges, but it was built on a lifetime of shared experiences and memories.
