Nick Paul Laurio Sr.

Nick Paul Laurio, affectionately known to most as “Duke,” passed away peacefully at his home on Monday morning, August 10, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by the people he loved most.

He was born on May 26, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, at Women’s Hospital. Duke spent much of his childhood in Ohio but also lived in South Carolina, before returning to Georgia after his cancer diagnosis, where he would spend his later years surrounded by his family.

Duke lived his life with a smile. He worked hard, loved fiercely, laughed often, and never stopped fighting. He taught his family that strength isn’t always about being unshaken—it is about continuing to love, continuing to laugh, and continuing to fight even when life becomes difficult. He was, in every sense of the word, one of a kind.

When he was diagnosed with cancer approximately seven years ago. He fought harder and longer than anyone could have imagined, because he wanted more time with the people he loved. His family gave him strength, and he gave them an example of courage and determination that they will carry with them forever.

He was a loving husband to his beloved wife, Debbie Laurio, who remained faithfully by his side until the very end. Their life together was built on love & partnership, and Debbie’s presence beside him in his final moments was a testament to the bond they shared.

Duke was the proud father of four amazing children: Nickolas “Nick” Laurio, Michael “Mike” Laurio his wife Kathy; Holly Nemeth her husband Mike; Heather Jones & her husband Nick.

He also leaves behind his 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; all who brought immense joy and pride to his life, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Duke was preceded in death by his beloved Parents Irene & Dominic Laurio. His sisters, Helen Raub & Florence Reed, as well as his son, Nickolas “Nick” Laurio Jr.

His family was his greatest accomplishment, his love was his greatest gift, and his strength was an inspiration to everyone who knew him.

He will be forever missed…
