Catherine Mixon

Catherine Mixon, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on July 27, 2026, at the age of 98. Born June 20, 1928, Catherine lived a life grounded in faith, family, and love.

Her greatest joy was her love for the Lord and her family, especially her two sons. She devoted many years to caring for the elderly in their homes, offering others the same patient and gentle care that came so naturally to her.

Catherine’s patient love of life could also be seen in the way she tended her garden. She took great pride in her flowers, nurturing them with patience and care and finding joy in watching them grow and bloom. Her garden was a beautiful reflection of the way she lived—quietly caring for the things and people she loved.

She is survived by her son, Michael Mixon, and his wife, Susan, of Palmetto, Georgia; her sister, Evelyn Walker, and her husband, A.J., of Ringgold, Georgia; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Catherine’s family finds comfort in knowing that she has gone home to be with the Lord she loved so dearly. As Scripture reminds us, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8

She will be deeply missed, but her faith, her love, and the gentle care she gave to others will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Memorial Service
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Southern Cremations and Funeral Chapel in Fairburn, Georgia, with Shane Mixon officiating.
