In Loving Memory of Tracy Carter

Tracy Carter, age 53, peacefully passed away at her home on August 17, 2026. Born on December 7, 1972, Tracy was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, loving family member, and faithful Christian whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her.

Tracy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Judy Ann Whitley and Jerry Whitley, as well as her uncle, William Maddox.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her family. Tracy is survived by her daughters, Mistie Kilgore, April Strickland, and Taylor Carter; her son-in-law, Mathew Strickland; and Darius McCollum. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Madison Cowl, Arianna Carter, Chase Strickland, Wyatt Strickland, Addy Strickland, Rhylee Ashmun, Roger Strickland, Sofie Strickland, and Navaeh Watson. She is also survived by her brothers, Jerry Matt Whitley and Joseph Michael Whitley; sisters-in-law, Jaclyn Whitley and Jamie Merrill; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including Nikki Strickland, Hayle Whitley, Dylan Whitley, Tyson Whitley, Eli McDaniel, Amber McDaniel, and Araelle McDaniel.

Tracy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a very loving and dedicated mother and an adoring “Nuey” to her grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to her life. She treasured family gatherings, especially the Sunday dinners that became a cherished tradition. Her strong Christian faith guided her throughout her life and provided her with unwavering strength and compassion.

She loved spending time at the beach, celebrating holidays with those she loved, and creating lasting memories with family and friends. Tracy’s favorite color was yellow, a reflection of the bright spirit she brought into the lives of others. She was a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved dog, Lillie, and her late companion, Cardi B.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, Tracy’s love, faith, generosity, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Dover Cemetery on Gum Creek Road on September 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Tracy’s life and legacy. In honor of Tracy, guests are encouraged to wear yellow or other bright colors, reflecting the warmth and light she shared with the world.
