Jeanette Opal “Janet” Bennett

Jeanette Opal “Janet” Bennett, 86, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026. She was born on December 21, 1939, in Pulaski, Virginia, to Alvin Howard Davis and Mary Magdalene “Lena” Bratton.

Janet was a devoted homemaker and, above all, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She dedicated her life to her family and was a source of love, strength, and comfort to those who knew her.

Her children survive her: Charlie (Debbie) Kemp Jr. of Pulaski, Virginia; Kemmie “Kenny” (Teresa) Kemp of Douglasville, Georgia; and William “Bill” (Kathy) Kemp of Senoia, Georgia.

Her grandchildren also survive her: Chad Kemp of Pulaski, Virginia; Justin (Kara) Kemp of Pulaski, Virginia; Ashley Bennett, USN, of Norfolk, Virginia; Brandon Kemp of Douglasville, Georgia; Jacob Kemp of Senoia, Georgia; and Will Kemp of Senoia, Georgia; and her great-grandchildren, Emma and Landon Kemp of Douglasville, Georgia.

Janet is also survived by her sister, Dollie Grantham of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Davis and Lena Bratton, and her siblings, Barbara Ayres, Bonnie Simpkins, Frank Bratton, Buck Bratton, and Bertha Akers.

“Momma was a fighter from day one to the very end. She truly was a special mom, and we will forever miss her. And if you knew Janet, you knew how much she loved her dogs. Sometimes we had to wonder if she loved her dogs more than she loved us—but we always knew there was plenty of love to go around.”

Her pain is no more; she is finally at peace.

Never goodbye, always “see you soon.”

Catch you later, Nana.
