Steven Lee Smith

Steven Lee Smith, affectionately known as Steve, was born on November 22, 1954, to Clyde Smith and Simone Smith. A father, grandfather, brother, and proud Navy veteran, Steve found joy in music, time with friends and family, and life’s simple pleasures.

Steve served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era. He began his career in appliance service alongside his father, Clyde Smith, on Long Island, New York. In 1985, he moved to the Atlanta area, where he continued building a career that spanned many years. He worked with Sewell Appliance Services, eventually serving as vice president. He also served as a regional service manager for Bosch, sharing his knowledge and experience by training new technicians.

Music was a lifelong love for Steve. He enjoyed playing his 12-string guitar and making music with friends. He loved the beach, a good cocktail, and any opportunity to enjoy good company. As a father, he took particular delight in spoiling his daughters when they were young.

In later years, some of Steve’s favorite visits with his sister, Barbara, included a cheeseburger and milkshake—as often as he could persuade her to bring them. Those simple moments together became cherished memories.

Steve is survived by his daughters, Ashley Dickey and Melissa Whitehouse; his sons-in-law, Michael Dickey and Courtney Whitehouse; his sister, Barbara Liford; and his five grandchildren, Philip Whitehouse, Harper Whitehouse, Michael Dickey Jr., Catherine Dickey, and Chloe Dickey.

Steve spent his final months at Golden Rose Personal Care Home in Marietta, where he was cared for with kindness and treated like family. His family is deeply grateful for the compassion and comfort he received there.

Steve will be remembered through the music he loved, the memories he shared, and the lasting place he holds in the hearts of his family and friends.
