Delbert Edward Raines

Delbert Edward Raines, 87, passed away on July 27, 2019. Born December 7, 1931 in Hartsville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Sydney James Raines and the late Ada Isola Davis Raines. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Jean Raines; his son, Wendell Raines; his brothers, Hulen Raines and George F. Raines; and his sister, Helen Apple. A resident of Marietta since 1965, Mr. Raines retired from the Cobb County Fleet Maintenance Department. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served tours of duty in England, Germany, Turkey, the Azores, and North Africa, and on bases in Charleston, SC, Lake Charles, LA, San Diego, CA, Houston, TX, and Knob Noster, MO. He was 48 year member of the Nelms Masonic Lodge, Past Royal Patron of the Order of the Amaranth, and Past Royal Patron and Emeritus Member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include his daughter, Marsha Weidinger of Acworth; his son, Danny Raines of Marietta; his daughter-in-law, Gayla Raines of Charleston, SC; granddaughters, Amanda Raines of Marietta, GA and Kimberly Sims of Charleston, SC; grandson, Jonathan (Bonnie) Raines of Marietta; a great-granddaughter; a great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 10 am until 12 pm in the Columbarium at Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. Funeral services will be conducted beginning at 12pm in the Columbarium with Rev. Troy Hall officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
