Georgia Mae Kirby

December 15, 1924 ~ October 6, 2019

Georgia Mae (Nelson) Kirby was born on Dec 6, 1924 to Queenie Elizabeth (Bostick) Nelson and George Nelson in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Georgia was the eldest of 3 girls - her sisters, Margaret (Nelson) Shuler and Roseanna Nelson both deceased. Georgia worked in private homes and Purepak Foods from 1941 to 1969. From 1969 to 1990 she worked for the New York Telephone Company. She retired the same year in April and moved to Georgia to live with her daughter and husband to help raise her grandchildren. They appreciated her sacrifice and love more than she could know. In June of 1990 she dedicated her life to serve Jehovah where she met many friends and family of her faith. She leaves to cherish her memory 5 children; Horace M. Kirby (Patricia), Cynthia Moore (Juan), Marion Holmes, Sandra Kirby and Gertrude Stanton along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Hazel Harrison and son, Richard Nelson preceded her in death. We must not forget the many daughters, sons, and grandchildren she's adopted from her warm and loving congregation. We will all miss her dearly.

  1. My Deepest and most Sincere condolences to all… The sting of death is truly a deep cut, May everyone be comforted by God’s Word as you find the courage to face each day as tenaciously as Grandma Kirby. I will truly miss her but had the honor and privilege of giving her an amazing haircut for which she would rave about… Making my heart Happy. Grandma Kirby always gave me wonderful advice and poured love onto my broken heart as I experienced the changes that Life brought.. She never sugar coated anything but said it with love. … The thing I will miss the most is her wonderful hugs and kisses. See you soon Grandma… I will carry all of your pearls of wisdom with me as I attempt to live with the same Tenacious & Faithful Spirit!!!
