Robert Hoehn, Jr

September 28, 2007

Robert N. Hoehn Jr. Robert N. Hoehn Jr., of Atlanta, age 66, passed away in his sleep September 27, 2007. Bob was first and foremost known as a man who loyally and lovingly remained close to his many friends over decades. Secondly he was known as one who introduced the joy of opera, classical music, and drama to hundreds of young people, changing their lives for the better. His upbeat personality drew people to him instantly. He was a volunteer for many groups, including the Atlanta Opera, the Atlanta Symphony, and several high school marching bands and drama clubs. His proudest association was with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps of Rosemont, IL, where he excelled as a marching member, winning championships including the undefeated 1961 season. He was a three-time baritone bugle solo national champion. More importantly to him, he was a volunteer with the corps for ten wonderful years - the best years of his life. The Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps was his second love and he was forever grateful for the time and the friendships he formed with them during his many years of service to them as a volunteer. Like his parents, his door was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay. More people than can be counted were fortunate to be welcomed into his home during times of need in their lives. He was a veteran and a believer in God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Robert Sr., and his son John. He also considered his "family" to be Paul, Barbara, Steven and godson Evan Milano, George Barr, Scott Wagner, Kathy Hartig, Roger Roussell, Phil Harrison, Karen Cotter, Donne Denton, Paul Litteau, Tony Rinella, and many others, including his "second father," Don Warren. A memorial service will be held at Holly Hill Funeral Home in Fairburn, GA, Sunday, September 30, at 2:00 p.m. http://www.hollyhillfuneralhome.com/index.asp In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps at www.cavaliers.org or the Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps at www.soaaa.org.
