Margaret Mapp

April 20, 1925 ~ March 30, 2008

Margaret L. Mapp, a devoted wife of 52 years, loving mother of four daughters, endeared grandmother and great grandmother and faithful friend to many, passed away in peace Sunday in her Henry County home. She was always known as Granny, loving and caring for anyone who came to her door. She was born April 20, 1925 in Lake City, Florida, the daughter of Edna McGregor and Harry Colter. She retired as a merchandise handler from Eckerd's, and was a World War II Wife, a part time florist, a collector of fine figurines and loved gather together and view family photographs, but was mainly the proud wife of a truck driver and spent the latter years of her life happily dedicated to be a loving housewife, spending as much time with her children and grandchildren. Aside from raising her three daughters, Mrs. Mapp and her husband raised three grandsons and helped to raise and care for her other grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret is preceded in death by her daughter, Pat Jackson; grandson, Chris Duffy; sister, Deloris Rusher, and brother, Shorty McGregor. She is survived by her husband, George Mapp, her sisters Gene Mapp and Doris Sexton, her daughters Sharon Braley, Debra Morgan, Mary Anne Lawson, and Kathy Hardigree. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. - 8 P.M., Tuesday April 1, 2008 And 9 A.M. - 2 P.M. Wednesday April 2, 2008. Funeral Services will be held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the chapel of Holly Hill Funeral Home with John Silva Officiating. Internment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
