Reuben M. Morgan Jr

Reuben Mckinley Morgan, Jr. was born to the late Reuben McKinley Morgan, Sr. and Nannie Kate Wheeler on September 3, 1925 in Bluefield, West Virginia. He entered into his journey with eternity on November 1, 2008. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother-in-law James Shorts in 2007, devoted sister Gertrude Shorts who transitioned from time to eternity, February 1999 and treasured son, Darryl Edward Morgan, Sr. in November 1983. Reuben was known for his free spirit and love for dogs. His sister Gertrude affectionately referred to him as "Brother" and the nickname stuck. He was a honorable veteran who proudly served his country through his service during World War II. He never met a stranger and loved to have people around him. He met and married Louise Trent and moved from Bluefield to finally settle in Springvalley, New York. Their union brought 11 children and Reuben had 12 children total. Reuben left Springvalley in 1970 and settled in Akron, where he remained until mid-year 2008. Although Reuben's footprints have vanished from earth, his memories abide in the hearts of those who held him dear; a loving wife, Louise Morgan; children Gloria "Reene" Morgan of Fairburn, Georgia Reuben "Rube" Morgan III of Springvalley, NY; Langston "Chuckie" Morgan of Ocala, Florida; Ronald "Duck" (Jadera) Morgan of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Donald (Rebecca) Christiansen of Akron, Ohio; Sandra (Jack) Richards of Palmetto, Georgia; Sonya (Moses) Cook of Stonypoint, N.Y; Frieda Morgan of Atlanta Georgia; Rocky (Nodoko) Morgan of Springvalley N.Y; David (Melisha) Morgan of Middleton N.Y; Andre (Lynn) Morgan of Middletown, Delaware; 2 Aunts; Lucille Clark-Williamson of Detroit Michigan and Katheline (William) Anderson of Bluefield, West Virginia. Beloved Niece; Beverly of Akron, Ohio. Reuben had a total of 30 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a devoted community and numerous other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 8, 2008 11:00AM to 12:00PM. at Holly Hill Funeral Home, 431 SW Broad Street, Fairburn, Georgia (770-964- 7833) Services honoring Mr. Morgan will be held at 12:00 Noon.
