Raymond Morris McDaniel Jr. was born May 15,1939 in Brookhaven, Georgia. He graduated from Grady High School in 1957 and boxed in the golden gloves tournament while he was in high school. He attended Georgia Tech and majored in electrical engineering. After Georgia Tech Raymond briefly worked at C&S Bank developing the first automatic check sorting system in the country. He later worked in the hospital equipment industry, starting his company Spec Incorporated. He became a licensed pilot and flew across the country supervising installations of hospital equipment in the construction of health care facilities. Later, Raymond went in the electrical business, and brought his son in the business as well. Raymond was also an accomplished artist and published poet.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-one years Sherry Morrow McDaniel, and his sons Brian McDaniel and R. Ryan Steuer. He is also survived by his grandchildren Olivia McDaniel, Thomas McDaniel, Daniel Glass, and Kerri May Glass. He has two great grandchildren, Liam McDaniel and Jaden Brewer. Also, he is survived by his former wife, Elaine Wilson Gore, mother of Brian McDaniel.
The funeral will be held December 12th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church located at 4755 N Peachtree Rd, Atlanta, GA 30338. The service will be performed by The Very Reverend P. Richard Game. There will be a reception in the reception for all following the service.
