Linette Hagaman

October 27, 1958 ~ December 22, 2019

On Sunday, December 22nd, Linette Beard Hagaman, age 61, passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. More than all to some and more than some to all, Linette may be no better defined than by the season that welcomed her to rest. Christmastime will forever stand not only as a capsule for her memory, but a symbol of its fullest expression. Compassionate, caring and tenderhearted from her first breath, Linette’s selfless nature graced the world on October 27th, 1958, soon to be nurtured by the loving care of her mother, Christine; father, Wallace Sr. and brothers, Chad, Garth and Wallace Jr. Linette came of age in the San Francisco Bay, making pit stops in Seattle and Cincinnati before landing in Florida to take a job at the Miami Herald. It was here she met and married her loving husband Jim, ultimately relocating to New Jersey and giving birth to her three children and wellsprings of joy, Allison, Brian and Derek. Words inevitably fall short in capturing her dearness to the many mentioned and the many more unmentioned. But a certain speechlessness — punctuated only by generous laughter, recognition and Oh for Pete’s sake! — is perhaps the appropriate memorial for a spirit that far eclipsed her kind words alone. In meeting and exceeding her many duties as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, realtor, teacher’s aide, Search & Rescue volunteer, education advocate and follower of Christ, Linette chose to live a life through the benefit of others — not as means to any end, nor a passage to self-worth. Linette served on a pure and patient impulse to do so. She simply let her life speak, and as a fitting eternal act of service, gifted her memory to speak louder. Family, friends and all whose lives were touched by Linette are invited to St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Marietta on Friday, January 3rd at 11am for a service in her memory.
