Gladys Hazel Simms

February 18, 1938 ~ November 7, 2025

Gladys Hazel Taylor Simms was born February 18, 1938, in Barbary Hall St. Elizabeth to father Alvin Taylor and mother Olga Campbell. She passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She is known for her quietness, storytelling and just being out right stubborn. Gladys Hazel Taylor Simms’s journey continued as she pursued an education and a career. She migrated to the United Kingdom in the 1960s where he found employment at the Luton and Dunstable hospital in England. She went on to get married to her now deceased husband Donald Simms. She visited the US multiple times after migrating to London then returned to live in the US with her daughter Marcia in 2020 after the passing of her late husband. Gladys Hazel Taylor Simms was blessed with two children Stuart Robinson and Marcia Morris. She was also blessed with sisters Elma, Edna, Caroline and Hilma who have all preceded her. Her legacy will continue to shine bright not only through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren but also through her accomplishments and contributions. She has touched all of our lives in profound ways and the lessons that she has taught us will guide us into the future. The last few years of her life were some of her most challenging. Yet, while she always brought her somewhat stubborn personality, she also brought every bit of survival skills, fight and strength to fill our memories of a woman who endured multiple health issues over the years. Gladys is preceded in death by her husband Donald Simms. She leaves behind her two children Stuart, Marcia and son in law Brian, grandchildren Romayne, Charmaine, Robin, Jamar and Andrene, great grandchildren Adjuke’, Erin, Zaiden and Marlee. Gladys Hazel Taylor Simms was a remarkable family member and friend who brought light and love into our lives. She will forever live in our hearts, and we are grateful for the time we had with her. Let us honor her life by carrying forward her values and the love she shared with us.
