Leonard Robert Jacobson

December 28, 1943 ~ September 24, 2021

Leonard Robert “Jake” Jacobson, age 77, passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2021, in Dallas, Georgia. Jake is survived by his wife of 53 years, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in addition to Steubenville, Ohio, family and various out-of-state cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents. Jake was born in Monterey, California, to parents Leonard R. Jacobson and Felice DiVittorio. At 17 he joined the U.S. Navy where he served for 22 years, including three tours in Vietnam. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Jake was a devoted family man, a loving husband, and a caring father. He married Reita Adams in 1968. The couple had two children together. Jake was a simple, private man who was deeply involved in both family and Navy activities for the majority of his life. He enjoyed walking, cookouts, visits at the lake, and traveling the country and abroad. His family and friends will always remember him as a headstrong, vocal, open-hearted, and generous person who liked to wear shorts no matter the season, watch The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly at every opportunity, and express his love for his wife to whomever would listen. He was also a proud veteran. A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. However, all are welcome and encouraged to celebrate Jake’s life in a way that is individually meaningful and significant. The family would like to thank everyone for their show of love and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Jake’s name to one of the charities below. Many of these charities have a personal connection to the family. Gary Sinise Foundation Homes for Our Troops K9s for Warriors Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Salvation Army
