Lois Marie Edwards

February 13, 1945 ~ November 22, 2023

Lois Marie Edwards was born February 13, 1945, in Oxford, Mississippi. Lois was a member of New Light Baptist Church. Lois along with her family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana at young age. She attended Indianapolis Crispus Attucks High School and later graduated from the Indiana Schools of Nursing, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse in her early career. Lois would later accomplish her dream of becoming a Flight Attendant with Eastern Airlines, which she retired after 26 years of service. She would later achieve another goal of becoming a CDL driver, traveling across the country where she met and married her husband of 30 years, Jeff Edwards, and she later retired. Lois continued to love to travel by air, land and sea. Lois was a lover of people and never met a stranger. Meeting people and engaging with others was her gift. She met many new friends in her travels and created new memories constantly. Lois was a loving mother to her children, Elesha Johnson (Rowland), Constance Willis, and stepchildren, William Edwards, and Jennifer Zavala (Felix). Lois was a proud grandmother of seven, great-grandmother of eight, and she was the eldest of 14 siblings that she cherished and loved deeply. Lois Marie Edwards was preceded in death by her mother, Nettie Mae McEwen; brothers, Marvin Berry, Jeffond Glynn McEwen, George Clinton McEwen; and sisters, Joyce Ann Berry and Deborah McEwen. Lois departed this life on November 22, 2023, at the age of 78 years. She leaves to cherish her memory: sisters, Julee Cooper, Jan Lewis (Edward), Demita McEwen, Khadijah Seck (Matar); brothers, John L Webb (Faristene), Omar Salahuddin (Zella), Jeffery McEwen (Nancy), Christopher McEwen; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

Guestbook

  1. Dear Jeff, Constanca and family Our Deepest Sympathy Lois will truly be missed Much Love Elizabeth and staff of McKinnon Group Allstate

  2. Mourning the loss of Lois, a woman whose spirit radiated brighter than the neon lights at Bigelow’s. Remembering her laughter that outshone even the wittiest comedians and her wisdom that put Jeopardy champions to shame. Above all, valuing our sisterly bond which was as sturdy as our faith and more spirited than our dance-offs at our favourite club. May these memories bring solace in this time of sorrow.
