Rev. Dr Kenneth Pierpoint Duke was born on October 9, 1933, in Bremond, Texas. He was the eldest of four children born to the late Jesse Duke and, Eula E. A. Duke On April 14, 2022, he completed his earthly mission, received his Crown of Glory and is sitting at the feet of Jesus Christ.Rev. Dr. Kenneth P. Duke accepted Jesus Christ into his life at an early age and worked extensively to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout his life. He was ordained at the Olivet Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. He diligently worked as an assistant pastor at St. John Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California. He was the Founder and Pastor of Greater Grace which was active in the downtown Atlanta community, the Civil Rights Movement, and the rehabilitation of veterans of the Vietnam War. His love for Christ led him to Georgia Institute of Technology, where he inspired students to learn more about Christ Jesus. He was an active member of the Second Mount Vernon Baptist Church, and he was also highly active in the National Baptist Convention.Rev. Dr. Kenneth P. Duke met the love of his life, Mattie Marie Foreman, in California whom he married in September 1960. To their union Kenneth, Derrick, and Marcus were born. He actively volunteered for the Special Olympics in which his son Marcus won several medals.Rev. Dr. Kenneth P. Duke served his country in the United States Navy. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving on the USS Intrepid. After his service to his country, he went on to work in the space industry. As an individual of many talents, he worked extensively with many projects to help put man on the moon. His employment led him to NASA. This work took him to California; General Dynamics in Lincoln, Nebraska; Marquette Test Labs in New Orleans, Louisiana; and Boeing in Cape Canaveral, Florida. After relocating to Kennesaw, Georgia to work at Lockheed Corporation, he worked as an entrepreneur and built his own equipment. Later, he worked at JcPenney Corporate Headquarters as an engineer where he later retired.Rev. Dr. Duke enjoyed boating and deep-sea fishing. He enjoyed deep sea diving in the Florida Keys and was a scuba diving instructor. He loved airplanes and became an A & P mechanic to repair and maintain airplanes. He also enjoyed repairing and maintaining trucks.Rev. Dr. Duke was a proud graduate of Bremond High School. In addition to his dedication to ministry, Rev. Duke was dedicated to higher learning. These schools included Texas Southern University, Texas A & M, UCLA, Morehouse College, and Oxford University inthe United Kingdom. His accolades include master's in engineering, master's in divinity, Doctorate in Theology, and Doctorate in Divinity.The late Rev. Dr. Kenneth P. Duke leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife, Mattie Marie Duke. He leaves his sons, Kenneth Duke Jr. (Antoinette) of Kansas City, Missouri, Rev. Derrick Duke (Nadine) of Locust Grove, Georgia, and Marcus Duke of Kennesaw, Georgia. He leaves his grandchildren, Dechino Duke (Amethyst), Kenneth Duke III, Natalie Duke, and Elijah Duke. He leaves his great-grandson, Jaden Duke. He leaves his sister, Mildred Duke of Houston, Texas. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse Duke and Eula Duke, and siblings Hiawatha Carl Roland Duke and Herbert Donnel Duke.
