Yvonne Joy Rowe

October 25, 1953 ~ May 19, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Yvonne Joy Rowe. She was 71 years old and passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville, Georgia, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. In her final days, she prayed to the Lord until she no longer had strength. She is now at peace with her maker. Yvonne was born on September 25, 1953, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Laura Rowe and Lawrence Rowe Sr. and she was the fifth of six children for the couple. She attended Wall Grove High School in Kingston, Jamaica. She migrated to Brooklyn, New York in her early twenties, where she lived for most of her adult life, and in 2006, relocated to Atlanta, Georgia with her two children for a quieter life. Throughout her life in the United States, she worked in various roles: a clerk at Fahnestock & Company, a school attendance clerk, a cafeteria worker, and numerous banking positions. No matter what the job titles were, Yvonne approached each with resilience and dedication. Yvonne was the mother to two wonderful children, Duane "Duaney" Rowe and Natasha "Tasha" Rowe, and they meant the world to her. They were her pride and joy, and they were supportive of each other during good and bad times. After Duane's sudden passing in October 2020, the lives of both Yvonne and Tasha were deeply altered. Yvonne's health declined in the years following Duane's death, and Tasha took on the role of a caregiver. Tasha did all she could to ensure that her mother was provided with the best care possible. She was with her until the end. Yvonne's life was well-lived. Defiant, stubborn, and feisty, she did things her way, and she could be a little pain in the butt at times. Just ask Tasha! Yvonne was very kind and considerate, and her apartment in Brooklyn was always open to family and friends. In addition, she was a creative soul and a natural decorator. She brought beauty and joy to living spaces and the people around her. Her vibrant spirit, strength, and love for her family defined her life. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Yvonne is survived by her loving daughter, Natasha Rowe, her siblings: Fredricka Jackson (sister), Margaret Rowe (sister), and Lawrence G. Rowe (brother); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss and cherish her memories. Yvonne was also predeceased by her beloved son, Duane Rowe; her brother, Ferdinand Rowe Sr.; sister, Ambrozine Solomon; and her parents, Laura and Lawrence Rowe Sr. In honor of her mother, Tasha encourages awareness and support for those affected by Alzheimer's disease. It is a journey no one should face alone, and increasing understanding is vital to honoring those affected by it. Special thank you goes out to all who supported Yvonne during this difficult process, including her nurse, certified nursing assistants, the many doctors along with the community of Autumn Meadows. The community looked out for her when she wandered and ensured that she made it home safely. May her soul rest in peace.

  1. Meeting cousin Yvonne and her lovely daughter Tasha at our first official family reunion back in Feb 2023 was truly a blessing. Although she was already unwell and sadden by the recent loss of her son, this did not stop her from being, radiant with that beautiful smile of hers and she was so engaging telling us all about her school in Greenwich and the sad loss of her son. She was friendly, mischievous, humorous and kind, fell in love with my new found cousin immediately as did many others on meeting her. Was lucky enough to meet her again at our second reunion in Fort Lauderdale where this picture was taken, in which you see her hanging onto her beloved brother Lawrence who she did not stop speaking about at both reunions. You are greatly missed already cousin Yvonne but we know you are in a better place, where you may rest in eternal peace 🙏🏿

  2. May your family be comforted by the wonderful memories shared, our thoughts and prayers remain with Tasha and all affected.Love Dianne and family

  3. I’ll always cherish the memory of my first in-person meeting with cousin Yvonne at our recent Rowe family reunion. Her vibrant personality and warm welcome instantly made me feel accepted. Despite being a new face, she treated me like a long-lost loved one. Our family Zoom meetings were always a highlight, and I enjoyed participating alongside her.

“Love each other as I have loved you.” John 15:12

This verse reminds us of the importance of loving and welcoming one another, just as Yvonne embodied.

My heartfelt condolences to cousin Yvonne’s immediate family and love ones. God wraps us all in His loving care as we grieve our mother, sister, aunt, cousin and dear friend.

  4. Today we will celebrate you aunty!! Thank you for allowing me to stay with you for a while when I came to the United States .. You are best interior designer in my book, yow will be missed for just being you! Will miss you being just crazy and funny . May your soul rest in peace . Love you and I promise to look out for your Tasha 💕💕🙏❤️

  5. Saying goodbye is never easy, but I truly believe that death is not the end. You will always live on in the hearts and minds of those who love you.
Some of my fondest memories are of your DIY projects. Every time I stopped by your apartment on Linden Boulevard, there was always something new you had created—something that reflected your hands-on spirit and quiet pride in your work.
Your kindness, creativity, and presence will be deeply missed.
