Mitchell, Tommy (Donald) passed away peacefully at 10 am on June 23, 2023 at the age of 83. Donald was born in Waleska, GA on October 30, 1939 and upon his death resided in Smyrna, GA. Donald is a retiree of the Coca Cola Bottling Company and in the 1970’s parked cars for a time at the Atlanta Fulton County Stadium, rubbing shoulders with Atlanta Braves greats such as Phil Niekro and Hank Aaron. He is predeceased by his Wife, Gayle E. Elsberry, and step-son David Carter.He is survived by daughter Melissa Cofer & husband Brian (Douglasville, GA), and two sons, Don Mitchell & wife Lynn (Douglasville, GA) and Chuck Carter & wife Laura (Dallas, GA). He is also survived by his brother, Henry Grady Mitchell (Smyrna, GA), and sisters Frances Morris (Katy, TX) and Emily Leitch (Ball Ground, GA). We invite you to visitation and celebration of his life on June 29, 2023 from 11 am to 1 pm at the facility on the hill, with burial following at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park 1861 Dallas Highway SW Marietta, GA 30064.

  3. I will always hold a special place in my heart ❤ for “My” Uncle Donald. I have the sweetest picture of me and him. I was probably about 9 months old so you’re talking a few years back 😆 like going on 67 years. He was holding me and we were both looking at each other with smiles on our faces. My favorite picture is one that Granny gave me. He was a boy wearing a flat top that needed cutting down a bit. It almost looks like a Mohawk 😆. So thankful too of the times we talked to each other on the phone before his passing too. Great conversations and he always called me Gal! I love you beyond words… beyond measure.
