I remember meeting Ms Schley over 30 years ago when Kathy and I worked together. I will always remember her whit, grace and beauty and as many will tell you she was was quite opinionated 😊
The thing I admired about her most was that she lived her life on her own terms despite what others thought. She was a proud woman a wonderful mother and I feel blessed to have known her.
Wear your crown!
Our beloved Joan was my second mom. She watched Cathy and I begin our young adulthood from College days and therefore after. She has always been the most pleasant, supportive and gentle extra parent to me. I love this woman like I love Cathy and Keith. To know her was to love her. Her voice rings in my head still. She will always live in my heart and will be missed. Rest peacefully in paradise momma Joan.
In the void left by Ms. Joan’s departure, we find solace in recalling her warm-hearted nature and a sense of humor that would brighten any room. She was a beacon of knowledge and intellect, embodying gentleness that comforted all around her. Her faith remained unwavering as our cherished friendship flourished over 45 years since those memorable days at New York Telephone. Her memory, enveloped in love and kindness, will forever live on amongst us until eternity touches upon its end.
Creamed corn, Vienna sausages, Barbara’s dinners and pork chops. Your laughter and smile. Joan knows what I’m talking about. Condolences to Cathy and your family. Marlene
Cathy my heart hurts that my Sister and I were not able to spend more time together, and Cathy I Continue to Pray that You and the Family Will Receive the Peace of Jesus. With Love, Jean
I met Joan when I first moved to Atlanta in 1982 through a mutual friend. I had just graduated from college, married, had a baby girl, and thought that I was ready to conquer the world; boy, did I have a lot to learn. Those lessons came from Joan and three other beautiful women who took a group of us under their wings. They became our big sisters. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot about life as well.
I know that God had his hand in this because I would have been lost without them.
Farewell, my friend. You are in good hands now.
Sisters for life,
Winette Sharpe
Cathy and Keith, you are in my prayers. Your mom was loved. Karen
Thankful for your life and it’s blessings Ms. Joan. Love and courage to Cathy and Keith.
So many great memories! Joan was a sister in Christ, friend, road dog, and partner in many crimes that will remain unsolved 😂. What great times we had and shared in church, at work, traveling across the states and cruising the seas. I will always remember her many stories and her love of soul food! Tell our partners in this journey of life that you can’t crown him till I get there. See you later Joanie 🙏🏿🙏🏿❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹
We love
you Joan
Mom, I love you and will always miss you. Lord knows we had our ups and downs but I always knew you loved me and you knew I loved you. You lived life and taught me to strive to do the same. You shared your love of travel, good food, and high quality thread count sheets- nothing lower than 400 for your child! 😂 Waffle house, reading, soul food, Agatha Christie, Ellery Queen, old school R &B – there were some of your favorite things and it’s no surprise they are some of mine. You had wonderful friends and touched many lives. You will be missed and loved always….
