Samuel Regis Lewis, Jr., 75, of Cartersville, Ga., formerly of Penn Hills, Pa., passed away on October 29, 2024. He was a cat with nine lives and a stubborn old goat who fought a good fight. Mr. Lewis earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. Go Panthers! He served in the Internal Revenue Service most of his career and retired as a financial auditor. He was an avid reader, and Stephen King was one of his favorite authors. He could finish a 1,000-page book in less than two weeks. He was also a Civil War, classic rock, muscle car, and WWll enthusiast. He knew something about everything and thrived on good conversations. He was the husband of the late Manila (Zourelias) Lewis, whom he married on October 30, 1971. You made it in time to celebrate your anniversary, Dad. Outstanding father of Samuel T. (Kim) Lewis and Anna M. (Scott) Henderson. Proud Pap Pap of Mackenzie, Benjamin, Jacob, Lauren, Victoria, and Alexia. Brother of Mary Elizabeth (the late John) Forbes, and Catherine Anne (John) Helean. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Special recognition to his Peeples Valley Baptist church family and the caring staff and friends of Signature Healthcare at Tower Road. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Regis Sr. and Catherine Johnston Lewis. Arrangements to be announced. At Sam's request, his body will be donated to the University of Tennessee, Department of Anthropology, for medical research, where he will finally be reunited with his wife of 53 years, Manila. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Mr. Lewis most definitely was a very special soul. When he came to our facility, we became best friends instantly. He could just about name every older movie, and a lot of the newer movies. He was very knowledgeable of lot of artist also which shocked me. I asked him to name one Atlanta rapper and the first name came out his mouth was Ludacris(😂)
He explain to me that not only was he a musician he’s also an actor. We have months and months worth of memories that I will continue to carry along my journey.
