Ann Rochelle Mills

January 22, 1967 ~ April 1, 2026

Born in: Conroe, Texas
Resided in: Kennesaw, Georgia

Ann Rochelle Mills, of Kennesaw, Georgia, entered her eternal rest on April 1, 2026.

She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. At 59 years young, Ann lived a life full of love, laughter, and quiet strength, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Born on January 22, 1967, in Conroe, Texas and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Ann was the fifth of seven children born to Thalia Harris Dooley and Charles Dooley. She carried with her a strong sense of family and resilience throughout her life. In May 2003, Ann graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Management from Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia. She later fulfilled a meaningful personal and professional goal by earning her Master of Science in Library and Information Science in May 2017 from Valdosta State University. Ann married the love of her life, Kenneth Mills, on October 12, 1996. Together they raised two sons, Jarrod and Zachary, building a home rooted in love, support, and togetherness. Ann and Kenneth shared 29 beautiful years of marriage. Ann found joy in the simple and meaningful moment which meant spending time with her family, working on puzzles, and getting lost in a good book. She was a loyal Atlanta Falcons and Hawks fan and took great pride in being a back-to-back Fantasy Football champion, a title she wore with both humor and bragging rights. She had a special love for stories and imagination, enjoying worlds like The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, and she never passed up a good horror movie. As a librarian for many years, Ann touched countless lives through her dedication, kindness, and passion for learning before retiring in May 2025.

Ann is survived by her devoted husband Kenneth; her sons Jarrod and Zachary; her beloved grandson Jayce; her siblings Edwolyn, Alesia, John, Mary, and Earnestine; and a host of nieces, nephews, her beloved cat Simba and extended family members who will carry her memory forward. She was preceded in death by her sister Kristi and her parents, whom she now joins in eternal rest.

A celebration of life will be held on April 18, 2026, at Southern Cremations and Funerals at 2:00 PM. In tribute to Ann, the family encourages others to honor her legacy by fostering meaningful relationships and sharing joyful moments.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Ann was my mentor and former supervisor at Kennesaw State University. She taught me how to catalog library books and about the profession of librarianship. Being around her inspired me to become a cataloging librarian just like her or a librarian in general. We kept in touch after I left KSU, and I would often send her cat videos and let her know how my day at work was going. We would also talk about movies and fandoms like Harry Potter. The thing I will miss the most is not being able to tell her about my day and not talking to her or seeing her for brunch when i visited GA. I am glad I told her she inspired me, and I hope she was proud of me. I love you, Ann, and I miss you dearly.

  2. The brightest smiles never fade
We won’t forget the love you gave
In our hearts you’ll always be
    I love you forever
    My Auntie!

  3. I have known Ann for 25 years dating back to the summer of 2001 when I was hired at the Southern Polytechnic State University Johnson Library. I learned quickly what a vivid sports fan she was. We talked all the time about the Hawks and Falcons…she was my work sports talk buddy. The Hawks and Falcons better win a championship soon or I know you will be looking down from Heaven getting mad at the teams. Walking into work and knowing you were there and we were going to have some sort of sports conversation was a big part of my day, so thank you!

We both earned our Master’s Degrees and graduated together, many a days studying paid off.

Ann you will be missed…from Team Kirkley

  5. May the gates of heaven swing open to greet you.
