Anthony Opoku Mensah

Mr. Anthony Opoku Mensah (Snr. Anthony!) was born to Ms. Abena Serwaah and Mr. Kofi Mensah in Kumasi, Ghana on March 15, 1944. He passed to his Heavenly Reward quietly on January 1, 2021 at home in Marietta, close to Atlanta, Georgia. He is survived by two daughters, two sons, eight nephews, six nieces, five grandchildren, a number of grandnieces and grandnephews, and a host of beloveds. After completion of secondary and tertiary education, Anthony worked several years for the Forestry Research Institute (FRIOG) - (formerly, the Forest Products Research Institute - FPRI) within the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of Ghana. Anthony immigrated to the United States in 2004. Anthony was an avid sportsman in his youth, a bibliophile and had an intense curiosity and inquisitiveness for all things geopolitical. He had a passion for soccer and loved spending time watching soccer, Kumawood and Nollywood movies. He not only took pride in his family, but truly relished the friends he made during his youth and adulthood in Ghana and during his stay in the United States. Anthony was a warrior for global justice and discipline. A Funeral Service in memory of Anthony will be held on January 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., at the Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, 1861 Dallas Hwy, Marietta, GA 30064. Interment will follow afterwards. Those who so desire may send flowers to the Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in memory of Anthony or make memorial donations to Dr. Martin K.
