Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Betty Jean Vinton was born in Alma, Michigan on February 8, 1937 to Elmer and Clara Gould. They lived on a farm in St. Louis, Michigan where her father drilled water wells and her mother was a housewife and raised Betty and her brother, Don Gould in a modest environment. She attended a one room school.
As a child, she loved fishing with her brother out of a small stream that ran through her father’s property. As they passed Larry’s house on their way home, he teased her about catching such small fish. She thought Larry was a nasty young man and some day she would get even. And she did! On Sunday, June 12, 1955, she married him!
Betty gave birth to five children, three sone and two daughters. After the birth of Brent, their first son, a neighbor invited them to church to hear about Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior. Out of curiosity, Betty went to the dismay of Larry. Eventually, Larry went with her to find out what she was learning. The Holy Spirit used this to work faith in both their hearts. Betty was baptized and Larry became a Lutheran Minister. They raised their children in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.“ As a pastor’s wife, Betty was a great example of Christian living and dedication to the service of the Lord in many ways,
Through this faith of Christ as her Lord and Savior, God called Betty home to eternal life on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. She is pre-deceased by two sons, Brad and Brian Vinton.
