Bobby Gene Crawford was born August 31, 1952 in New York City, New York to the late Wilson Crawford and Elizabeth Mary Dumas. He departed this life on March 24th, 2020.
His formative years were spent in Tuskegee, Alabama where he enjoyed fresh air with his many cousins and extended family. It was here where he learned the foundational principles of hard work, determination, and family values that would guide him throughout his life.
As a young man he returned to New York where he graduated from Hostos Community College with an Associates of Arts & Sciences. This is where he met his future wife; Violet Williams. He went on to attain his B.S. in Criminal Justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. While there, he joined the United States Army Reserves, and served as Second Lieutenant.
He married Violet Williams on March 15, 1977. In December 1978, they welcomed their first child Victoria Gene’ Crawford. A few months later after receiving a military transfer; he and his young family moved to Georgia where he set down roots and they had two more children; Renata Gene’ Crawford and Robert Eugene Crawford.
Bobby later became a public servant and took the oath to serve and protect his community by joining the Fulton County Police Department, as an Officer and later as a Detective.
He developed an interest in the sale of Real Estate, and went on to become a Real Estate Sales Agent, Real Estate Broker, and later to establish his own Brokerage Company, Crawford Realty Group.
He also enjoyed many years as an independent owner operator for Yellow Cab of Atlanta.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 43 years Violet Williams Crawford; three children, Victoria Gene’ Crawford (Michael), Renata Gene’ Crawford and Robert Eugene Crawford; two grandchildren, Nebulah West and Novah West; a sister Geraldine Cox (Darrell); two nieces, Sandy Kindell (Ladell) and Wanda Johnson (Montez); a nephew, Wayne Crawford and a host of beloved family and friends.
Bobby Gene Crawford, you are loved and dearly missed.
A Memorial Service is planned for a later date.
