Bridget Ody, 47 of Acworth, GA passed away February 12, 2021 at home after a courageous battle against stage 4 cancer. She was surrounded by loving family and supported by a large network of wonderful friends. Mrs. Ody was born to Bill and Ann Monaghan in Ohio. She graduated from Windham High School, earned her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Connecticut and graduated Magna Cum Laude with her graduate degree in education from the Florida State University. She met and married her beloved husband of 23 years, Richard Ody, in Panama City, Florida. They relocated to Georgia in 2008 where they found their dream home and community. Together, they loved to travel, cook delicious meals, host family gatherings and care for their beloved pets. Mrs. Ody was a high school biology teacher at Mosley High School in Lynn Haven, Florida and Allatoona High School in Acworth. Teaching was her passion and brought her great joy. Her students adored her and praised her kindness, creativity, and ability to make them feel seen and appreciated in her classes. Mrs. Ody is survived by her husband Richard, her mother Ann Monaghan of Kennesaw, her identical twin sister Carmel and her husband Sean Daly of Mill Spring, NC as well as extended family in the United States, Great Britain, Ireland, Germany and Swaziland. She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Monaghan. Visitation Hours will be held Thursday, February 18, 2021 between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm at Southern Cremation & Funerals, 1861 Dallas Highway in Marietta, GA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 11:00 am officiated by Father Neil Dhabliwala at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1816 Ben King Rd in Kennesaw, GA. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.
