Catherine Jean Lennartz

Catherine Jean (Call) Lennartz, 61, died June 24, 2018, in Sandy Springs, Georgia, after a long and hard-fought struggle with Scleroderma and related autoimmune diseases. Cathy moved from Northside Hospital on June 23rd to Halcyon House Inpatient Hospice and was surrounded by her entire family from across the country including her adult children Amy Lennartz and Robert Lennartz of Florence, Alabama, Erin Lennartz of Denver, Colorado, her husband of 34 years Richard Lennartz; her mother Jean (Marks) Call; brothers Daniel (Katy Call) and Tom Call; sisters Mary (Call) Hepworth, Susan (Call) Buchans, Liz (Call) Weber, Maureen Call and several lifelong friends who were able to spend a touching time with her. Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, September 21, 1956, Cathy moved with her family to Prairie Village, Kansas, and attended St. Ann's Catholic Grade School, Bishop Miege Catholic High School and Kansas University, graduating with a B.S. Education. Later Cathy earned a M.A. Educational Leadership from the University of North Alabama in Florence. Cathy taught and later became principal in her ten years at St. Joseph Catholic School in Florence, Alabama and later served six years as Vice Principal at Pope John Paul II Catholic High School in Huntsville, Alabama. She relocated to Atlanta to assume responsibilities as Assistant Principal at Christ The King School in the Arch-diocese of Atlanta. Cathy's passions included competitive swimming through her college years, traveling, visiting family and friends, going anywhere with a pool or beach. She commanded respect of fellow teachers, co-workers and students with her fair and honest demeanor, always helping others want to be the best they can be, practicing gratitude, praising others, focusing on success, letting go, prayer and meditation. A funeral mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta on Friday July 20th, at 10:30 AM. Cathy and family would appreciate memorials to the Scleroderma Foundation, The St. Joseph School Foundation (Florence, Alabama), or any of the Endowment donation opportunities at Christ the King School, Atlanta, Georgia.
