Cicely Deneen Murray

December 26, 1974 ~ March 29, 2026

Cicely Deneen Murray, age 51, of Ellenwood, GA,  passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. She was born in Brooklyn, New York to Patricia Newell Murray and Charles Edwards Rogers on December 26, 1974. Her brother Chad (Jimmy) Toponwey preceded her in death.

Cicely graduated from Brookly Tech High School. She attended C.U.N.Y. Brooklyn College, where she was a Sigma Star for the Beta Lambda Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated. She became a Sigma Star of the Fall of 1993 with 5 other young ladies. Cicely contributed her time and effort to the chapter to ensure that the chapter remained an active and viable force on the campus.

She majored in English and graduated with a bachelor’s degree.

Cicely was self-employed as executive assistant and was employed at Google. Her most recently employment was for National Assistance Corporation of America as a training coordinator. NACA is the largest HUD-approved nonprofit, community advocacy and homeownership organization in the United States.

Her passion for public service and human rights pushed her to advocate for NACA’s rental assistant arm during COVID. It was noted that, “due to the relentlessness of NACA’s Economic Advocate Cecily Murray, she helped a renter Ms. Barnett who had applied for rental assistance funds. Cicely helped her landlord receive money for past due and advanced rent and stop eviction.  Ms. Barnett said, “If it wasn’t for NACA, me and my three children would have nowhere to go.”

She leaves behind a loving daughter, Wynter Robinson. She is also survived by her 2 brothers, Rashaun and Rachard, her uncles Tommy and Bobby, along with many cousins, extended family and friends.

Although she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on through the countless memories shared, the family and friends and the impact she left on all of us.
