Deborah Smith Karimi

September 23, 1957 ~ February 26, 2020

Deborah Smith Karimi, 62, went to be with the Lord on February 26th 2020 after a long illness. Daughter of the late Benjamin V. and Elizabeth Russom Smith, she was a valued member of the Foundations of the Future day care team and lovingly cared for the children there for 15 years. Loving wife, devout mother to two children, two step-children, grandmother to seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was a selfless, humble servant of all who crossed her path in life, family and friends alike. She loved and respected all walks of life and would give the shirt off her back for anyone at any time. She led a spiritual life with faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served Him humbly and wholeheartedly with no doubt of regret. Surely, God has prepared her a very special place in Heaven where she will rejoice with our family who have passed before her, and will bask in the glory of eternity in Heaven until one day we are together again in the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior. We all love her, and will miss her very much and will forever meet again in spirit. Glory be to the Lord Christ. She was predeceased by her father Benjamin V. Smith, mother Elizabeth Russom Smith, and her sister Phyllis Dixon Smith. She is survived by her husband of 30 years Jorge Nunez, first husband Medhi Karimi, son Michael R. Karimi and his wife Abigail, daughter Michelle Dawson, grandchildren Kenneth Karimi, Abigail Karimi, Kristopher Seabrooks, Whitney Karimi, Zaran Karimi, Ava Dawson, Junior Dawson, step-daughters Anna Nunez and Tasha Nunez, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Bobby Smith and his wife Teresa, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 10:00 am-1:00pm at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia. Graveside services will be held at Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia. Donations may be made to the Esophageal Cancer Action Network.

  1. My heart aches for you my dear friend. I will always remember the times we shared together. The laughter, the tears, the many serious talks, and the silly ones too. I know you are with the Lord now, and so glad you are no longer in any pain. I love you sis 🙂
