Elizabeth Everett

February 25, 1943 ~ March 31, 2026

Elizabeth Everett was born on February 25, 1943, in Alexander, Georgia, to the late Irene Everett and Gilbert Bell. In December of 1954, the family moved to Brooklyn, New York, where Elizabeth continued her education and began building a life rooted in love, resilience, and devotion to family.

Elizabeth was blessed with two sons, Gregory Burkett and Shawn Burkett, whom she cherished deeply. She took immense pride in raising them, ensuring they had everything they needed—and more. Her love for her children was unwavering, and she dedicated her life to their well-being and happiness.

After dedicating 20 years of service to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Elizabeth retired in 2006. In 2014, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, to be closer to her eldest son, Gregory. In 2021, she dedicated her life to Jehovah as a member of the Thorn Creek Congregation, a testament to the deep love she held for Him. In 2023, Elizabth chose to settle in Covington, Georgia, where she found comfort in the company of her sister, Betty, and her extended family. Surrounded by their love and care, she remained there until her passing on March 31, 2026.

Affectionately known as Lizzy or Liz, she was the heart of her family. She found joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her sisters. Elizabeth loved to travel, and she especially delighted in cooking for her loved ones. Every meal she prepared became a moment of connection, a memory, and a testament to her generous spirit.

Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Gregory Burkett and Shawn Burkett; her grandchildren, Raheem Burkett, Kahseem Burkett, Hakeem Burkett, Hassan Burkett, Jordan Jones, and Ashayia Allsbrooks; her great-grandchildren, Amayah Burkett and Raheem Burkett Jr.; her sister, Betty Everett; her nieces, Felecia Singleton, Adriene Williams, Pamela Singleton-West, Rokeya Everett, and Danielle Everett; and her nephews, Keith Brown, Michael Williams, Darnell Williams, and Dwayne Williams. She is also remembered with love by a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Essie Joe Williams.
