Genevieve DeHaas

Genevieve Penner DeHaas, age 98 years, passed into the Lord’s presence March 30, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones.   

She was born May 24, 1927 to Fred and Susie Unruh Penner in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma. Known as “Jenny” to her family, she was one of seven children of that union.

She graduated from Enid High School in Enid, Oklahoma.

On July 5, 1946 she married Kenneth DeHaas in Hutchison, Kansas. They had five children. Infant daughter Marilyn Kay and son Brian Keith preceded her in death.  Survivors are Donna & Jim Murray, Robbie DeHaas, and Danny & Betty DeHaas. Four grandchildren: Jennifer Beard, Melanie & Russell LaRoche, Lee DeHaas & Tiffany, Annabelle DeHaas. Two Great grandchildren: Barron LaRoche and Aurora DeHaas.

Mother was a “Wonder Woman” extraordinaire!  She was a daughter, wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.  She was a homemaker, home economist, chef, & seamstress. She also was a Taxi driver taking the boys to baseball practices & games and cheering loudly at those games.

She loved fiercely! She loved BIG! She loved not only her extended family and her children but also their friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Donations to St. Jude’s hospital in Memphis,Tennessee may be made in her memory.
