Gerald Ray Kirby

Gerald Ray Kirby, age 81, of Fairburn, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019. He was born on October 19, 1937, in Albanyto Edward and Frances (Lynch) Kirby. He graduated from Florida State University and went on to play for the Detroit Tigers Farm League. He later retired as a self-employed painter. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Kirby. He is survived by: daughter, Tameka Ammons of Fairburn; son, Anthony Kirby of Fairburn; sisters, Sandra Holly and her husband Don, of Fayetteville, Joyce Zimmerman and her husband, Zimmy, of Acworth and Bobbie Kirby of Carrollton; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2019, in the chapel of Holly Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Hey pop it’s Christmas and believe me it’s not the same without you here, I know your in heaven watching and guiding and praying for me, I wouldn’t expect you to just give up on me just because you passed, you never did, you found and seen the good in me when no one else could, not even myself…I love you daddy, me and you had our special bond not just a father and son bond, you was my best friend, I love you and even though I’m holding my head up and staying out of trouble for once in my life, Lol..it’s for you, and the love you gave me, the support you gave me, the encouragement to be someone someday and hell to be honest daddy I want to be just like you, Merry Christmas pop, we miss you and love you more than words can ever express…
