Gilbert Milton Lodge Sr

Gilbert Milton “Johnny” Lodge Sr., son of the late Bernard and Ida Lodge passed November 10, 2020. Gilbert affectionately known as Johnny, was the second of three children. Johnny attended St George’s Secondary School. He worked with U.S. Airforce on the Naval Base in Bermuda for several years. Johnny joined The Bermuda Regiment when his brother Tim was drafted, so he could be near his big brother. He obtained the rank of Corporal but decided to leave when his brother Tim completed his time in the regiment. Johnny then worked at Stevendoring services as a cargo checker. He then married Andrea Kaye Trawick in 1966 exactly 10 days after his big brother Tim and his sister -in-law Hazel. As young brothers the two were inseparable, and very mischievous. They loved to fish off the rocks and snorkel until Johnny had a face to face with a moray eel. He even has a shark scar on his thumbs as testament to mischievous behavior. That is how Dennis became Tim, aka “Tiny Tim” and Johnny “be bad”. Eventually their baby sister, Bernette was born, they both adored her. Johnny resided in the USA from 1973 - 1982. He joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church and served in many positions. Youth sabbath School Teacher at Hanna Street SDA Church. Head deacon and Ordained Elder at Belfort SDA Church in Houston TX. Johnny spent almost 20 years working as a supervisor with Pella Windows and Doors. Upon returning to Bermuda he worked at Gorham’s Ltd until his retirement. There he developed several lifelong friends that will truly miss him. During retirement he and his bride of 54 years enjoyed traveling, quiet time together and their 10 grandsons. He will be missed dearly by his loved ones. He is predeceased by uncles Ernest “Nipple” & Robert Thompson, aunts Muriel & Alice Thompson, Gladys & Alma Crane. Brother-in-law Graham “Pop” Cann. He also leaves to mourn a host of cousins, godchildren, the St. George’s SDA Church family, Gorham’s and many lifelong friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, husband of Andrea Kaye Lodge. Son of Bernard “Bernie” and Ida Lodge. Loving father to Leighsa Darrell-Augustus, Roshaun Lodge-Penny (Mark) and Gilbert M. Lodge, Jr. (Samantha). Grandfather to Tahj Augustus, Jourdyn Mello, Taahir Augustus, Shaun Penny, Amahnde Lodge, Ajahni Penny, Amari, Alijah, Aaron & Akeem Lodge. Great-grandfather to Londyn Mello. Special “granddaughter” & caregiver Nicole Cornett. Brother to Dennis “Tim” Lodge and Bernette Cann. Nieces, Cherita Caisey (G. Stephen) and Denise Lodge. Uncle, John “Ginger Blue” Thompson (Delores). Aunts Ann and Iva Thompson and Uncle Jerry Trawick (Janet)-
