Heidi Denise Kirby Akins

March 24, 1967 ~ February 21, 2018

On February 21, 2018, at age 50, Heidi Denise Kirby Akins left this world but never our hearts. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Heidi was born to Richard Wayne and Judy Fae Jackson, on March 24, 1967 in Statesboro, GA. She attended Bulloch Academy High School and later went on to graduate from Georgia Southern University in 2010 with her Bachelor of Science degree. After raising 4 beautiful children, she later transitioned into her career as a hospitality manager. Heidi knew no strangers; everyone she met was a friend. She enjoyed activities such as, biking, hiking, and she lived life to the fullest. Her smile lit up every room she entered and her laughter was contagious. She was a woman of Christian faith. Heidi is preceded in death by her parents, Juanita Kirby and John Wilton Kirby; her biological parents Richard Wayne and Judy Fae Jackson; paternal Grandparents John Ezra and Lillian Jackson; sister Patsy Kirby and brother in law Pete Brannen. Heidi is survived by her spouse Todd M. Covington, her beautiful children Miriam, Joel (Katie), Madeleine, and Catherine Morgan Akins. The children’s father Joseph (Gail) Akins, paternal grandparents Paul and Josephine Akins. Her paternal Aunt Robyn Suzanne Jackson. Her Siblings John Robert Kirby, Joyce Rickert (Steve), Becky Ellis (Grayson), and Dale Brannen (Pete). Services will be held on Sunday, February 25 at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, 1861 Dallas Hwy Marietta, Georgia 30064. Visitation will start at 12:00 pm and service will commence at 2 pm. Due to Heidi having touched so many lives, there will be an additional service held in Statesboro, Georgia on March 24th, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Provisions Cares Foundation of Knoxville, Tennessee and The Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island.
