Ivan Roy Goins, age 74, of Smyrna, Georgia, (Canton, Ohio) passed away October 23, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hills in Marietta, Georgia. Burial will follow at Cheatham Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 3rd from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, prior to the ceremony at the funeral home.
Ivan was born August 29, 1944 in Canton, Ohio to mother Thomasina Warren (Hampton) and father Arthur Goins. Ivan grew up in Canton and attended McKinley High School, then went on to work at The Timken Company, where he worked for 33 years and retired as a Supervisor of Security. Ivan was very active as a socialite in his community, and enjoyed participating in the Pro-Football Hall of Fame events, and also enjoyed golfing, swimming, and writing movie scripts. Ivan was a dedicated and devoted father, a hard-worker, and a friend. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. To have known Ivan was to love him very dearly.
He is survived by his son, Ivan R. Goins II, of Cleveland, Ohio; Grandson, Ira J. Goins; daughter, Kelly L. Reid and her husband Darryl of Smyrna, Georgia; 12 brothers and sisters, and mother of his daughter, Susan A. Goins of Atlanta, Georgia.

Mr. Ivy loved Wal-Mart and so did I. We shared great memories and many laughs together while helping him do his shopping. He was a very lively and funny person and his presence will truly be missed. I will miss going to visit him on my breaks and fussing at him for being so nice and giving his things away and letting people borrow them. He was truly a great person.
