James William "Jim" Briggs

James "Jim" William Briggs, age 60, of 355 Miller Farm Rd, Newnan, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Mr. Briggs was born in Atlanta, GA. He was the son of William "Billy" J. Briggs and late Mary Louise Lyons Briggs. Mr. Briggs was a retired carpenter. Mr. Briggs also served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Briggs was preceded in death by his sister, Karla Briggs. In addition to his father, Mr. Briggs is survived by son, Matthew B. Briggs of Stockbridge; daughter, Jennifer D. Fortner of Juneau, AK; son, Travis Briggs of Stockbridge; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Phil Warren of Suwanee; Pat and Rick Gregory of Fair Oaks, CA; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Ginger Briggs of Newnan; and grandchildren, Haley and Logan. Funeral Services for Mr. James "Jim" William Briggs will be conducted Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Holly Hill Funeral Home. Rev. Phil Warren will officiate. Pallbearers are as follows: Mathew Briggs, Tim Briggs, Ben Warren, Willie Bullard, David Hollums, Joshua Hollums, Justin Hollums, and Andy Ware Interment will follow in College Park Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 12:00 p.m. until services begin.
