Rev. Janice Shadwell Turner February 7, 1953 – January 10, 2016 Janice Shadwell Turner, age 62, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2016 in Marietta, GA. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Stephen E. Turner, and her children; two sons, Justin E. Turner (Diane) of Dahlonega, GA., Ryan S. Turner of Marietta, GA., and one daughter, Stephanie Cain (Gabe) and their children, Jake, Alina, Daniel and Charlie of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by her father, Percy F. Shadwell, Sr. of Interlachen, FL, her two brothers; Percy (Butch) Franklin Shadwell, Jr., of Jacksonville, Fl., David Alexander Shadwell, Ft. Pierce, FL and sister, Kathy Shadwell White, Jacksonville, FL. She was born February 7, 1953 in Chester, PA to Percy F. Shadwell, Sr. and the late Joyce Agathabel Buxo Blevins. She graduated Duncan U. Fletcher High School in Neptune Beach, FL and attended Florida State University majoring in Commercial Art. Besides her love for art and membership in Mensa, she was an avid athlete participating in track and field, fencing, and volleyball, and later took up playing tennis for which she and her husband shared a love. On November 27, 1982 Janice united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life Stephen E. Turner. With this union they were blessed with two sons. She became a member of Town Center Community Church in the Fall of 2007 and became an Ordained Minister of the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana in October 2013 with a primary interest to support the Outreach Ministry through Lend-A-Hand, Awana, Teach One to Lead One, Marriage Mentoring, and the Foster Care Program, as well as working on a one on one basis to help people to establish a firm foundation in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Rev. Janice Turner served faithfully, lending her services when and where they were needed. Her life was one of love and service to the Lord, to others, and especially to her family. Also, as a gifted artist, Janice was always willing to contribute her talents to the church. Janice served as a missionary to the people of the Lakota Tribe on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Allen, SD since 2008. Through her love and compassion, she was able to minister to them through Vacation Bible School, Christmas Shoebox Ministry, teaching, counseling, and spreading the word of Jesus Christ. She was always working to provide greater opportunities to build confidence and independence for the people of Allen. This heartfelt ministry became instrumental in transforming the families of Allen. Rev. Janice Turner leaves warm memories and a powerful legacy for all to continue. Arrangements are being made by Southern Cremations & Funerals of Cheatham Hill. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday January 23, 2016 at 2:00PM at Town Center Community Church, 1040 Blackwell Rd., Marietta, GA 30066 (770-424-4004). Janice loved flowers, but if you would also like to make a donation, her family encourages you to donate to 'TCCC' and earmark "In memory of Janice Turner". They will then decide how to allocate any funds received to the Outreach Ministries she loved and served.
