Jerome Irving Sr.

October 21, 1953 ~ June 29, 2021

Jerome Irving 67, was born on October 21, 1953 in Columbus, Georgia to the late James Edward Irving, Sr. and Zelma Mae Thornton Irving. He was the fourth born of six children. Jerome entered into eternal rest on June 29, 2021. Jerome passed away “suddenly” at his home, from “natural” causes associated with “Hypertension”, Coronary Vascular Disease, which leads to “heart failure”. He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Irving, Sr. and his brother, James Edward Irving, Jr. Jerome committed his life to Christ at an early age by joining Metropolitan Baptist Church, in Columbus, Georgia. After graduating from Spencer High School, in 1971, he enlisted into the United States Air Force and later he received an “Honorable Discharge”, in February of 1975. Jerome was a “kind Spirited” person, but when he was passionately about a topic, you could say that he was “a little rough around the edges”. He loved his children and his grandchildren. Jerome enjoyed fishing, raising dogs, and he especially loved taking care of his grand babies. Jerome leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Jerome Irving, Jr. (JJ) of Atlanta, Georgia and Justin Alphonso Irving of Atlanta, Georgia. Five grandsons, Joshua Isaiah, Jacob Johnathan, Jeremiah Nicholas, and Justin Alphonso, Jr.; one granddaughter, Aubrey Michelle; his mother, Zelma Irving of Columbus; one brother, Alphonso Irving of Fayetteville; three sisters, Peggy Irving Hagan (David) of Decatur, Paulette Wilcox of Fairburn; and Priscilla Khan (Tariq) of Union City; his best friends, Gwen Irving, Darrell Childs, Felton Thornton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him and mourn his passing.
