erry Guy Hughes, 82, of Newnan, Georgia, entered eternal rest on December 29, 2020. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years Peggy, his son Rocky, daughter-in-law Robbie, and his granddaughter Gwendolyn. As a young man, Jerry served in the United States Air Force, and later went on to open and run J&P Transport for 22 successful years. Jerry loved his family, playing golf, the Georgia Bulldogs, and his dog Beau. A memorial will be held in summer 2021. In lieu of flowers, the Hughes family asks for a donation to be made in Jerry’s name to his favorite charity, the Wounded Warrior Project.

Q: How did you meet Jerry?
A: My first time meeting Jerry Hughs was during a golf tournament in Panama City, Florida and he and my husband, James, (Flash) Cochran were paired to play. Quickly I was Introduced to his beautiful wife, Peggy. We were invited to their PC home- away -from home during that weekend and continued to visit w Jerry and Peggy for many years. The guys talked golf and football, and Peggy andI I talked about our families and traveling. I will forever remember Jerry as the best quintessential host and his laughter. May Jerry rest in peace.
