Joan Hampton Chambers was born on March 27, 1935, in Asheville, NC to Jobie and Evelyn Hampton. She had two sisters and three brothers.
She passed away peacefully on February 4, 2021 at the age of 85.
Prior to marriage, Joan worked for Southern Telephone Company. She was chosen for the cover of the company magazine in December, 1958.
Joan met Shelby Chambers in Atlanta, GA. They married October 15, 1955. They have been married for 65 years. They raised three sons together.
She was an active member of Davis Chapel Baptist Church, Mt. Pisgah Baptist and First Baptist Church Powder Springs. Mrs. Chambers taught Sunday School to children, ages 2-10, for over 50 years. She also taught Bible Drill.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She invested much time and energy into her family. She enjoyed taking pictures and hosting family events. She loved to entertain.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jobie and Evelyn Hampton and her son Marc Chambers.
She is survived by her husband Shelby Chambers. Two sons, Craig Chambers (Pat), Darren Chambers (Angela). She has 7 grandchildren. Jared Chambers (Amanda), Rachel Bradley, Danielle Rietta (Frank), Rebekah Robertson (Matt), Erica Bennett (Chris), Alaina Webb (Mark) and Ashley Nordlander (Enoch). She has 8 great grand children. Christopher, Sydney, Elem, Carson, Elora, Annaleigh, Jackson and Evelyn.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 13 at 10:00 for visitation and 11:00 for the Memorial Service. It will be held at First Baptist Church of Power Springs, Powder Springs, GA.
