~ The Life of Joanne Frett-Hansby ~
Joanne Frett-Hansby was born on October 24,1947. She was the daughter of Diane and Herbert Hendricks. Joanne attended primary and high school in Manhattan, New York. She also attended tap dance classes in Dayton, New York. Later, she became the mother of three daughters and two sons: Jackie, Purvis, Duncan, Monica, and Kadesha.
In 1980, Joanne relocated to St. Thomas U.S.V.I with her mother and children. She secured a job with The U.S.V.I Housing Authority. After over twenty years, she retired. Afterwards, Joanne worked for a Montessori Elementary School for several years.
Cruising and cooking were her two favorite pleasures. Many have feasted on her best loved delicacy dishes such as pick-up saltfish, chitterlings, roast pork, and lobster in cream sauce. Joanne’s pleasure of traveling took her to places like Alaska, Mexico, St. Kitts, Aruba, Cayman Islands, St. Lucia, and many more.
Approximately after 30 years, she became the wife of Clarence Hansby and once again relocated to Flowery Branch, Georgia where she resided for 8 years. Unexpectedly, Clarence Hansby passed away August 31, 2014. Sadly, Joanne Frett Hansby perished on July 16, 2020.

To the children and family of Ms. Joanne. I pray God’s strength on you through this difficult time. I met your mom through Monica years ago. No one knew then that your mom would become my step-mother years later. I’ve spent time with her, traveled with her, worked along side her during our CAP days. But what I appreciated most was her care and attention to my dad while he was alive. Now the both of them are together again. I pray for their souls and I thank God I knew her. Take care family. “Love you Joanne!”
Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
My deepest condolences to her family and extended family. I pray that the Spirit of God console and comfort the families of the lost of Mrs. Joanne Frett-Hansby in Jesus name.
