Joe was born to Joe Boyd Bannister, Sr. and Lola Brock Parker on April 14th 1950 in Camilla, GA. He grew up in Bainbridge, GA, and graduated from Bainbridge High School. He moved to Atlanta and resided with his sister, Pat Pittman, who lived in Mableton, GA, while attending Atlanta Area Technical College in 1968. He went on to meet his wife of 49 years, Lola Chapman Bannister. Joe and Lola were married in March of 1971. They welcomed their first child, Brian, in July of 1975. Joe was so excited to be a Dad. Five years later they welcomed their baby girl, Stephanie, in December of 1980. After the children grew up and had children of their own, he became the best Papa and loved those babies with all his heart. He loved spending time with them, taking them to dinner (Cracker Barrel!), and various activities. His heart was so full of love for all of them. Anyone who met Joe knew that he was a man of integrity, and knew he held family and faith above all else. All held him in the highest regard and loved him dearly. He was a wonderful man, is deeply missed, and will always be cherished. Joe and Lola are members of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church in Powder Springs, GA. Survived by his loving wife, Lola, and lovingly remembered by Pat Pittman (sister) & Terry Pittman (brother-in-law), Brian Bannister (son) & Mandy Bannister (daughter-in-law), Stephanie Evans (daughter) & Ryan Evans (son-in-law), and grandchildren Cliff Cochran, Colby Cochran, Trinity Bannister, Adriana Bannister, Cason Evans, and Callyn Evans. Joe was a very special soul. I feel fortunate to have known and worked with him in this lifetime, and know has started his eternal life with Jesus.

  21. God gave me the second greatest gift ever, next to His son Jesus Christ, parents who love unconditionally. My dad, was not only a great father and husband, but a shining example of what the world should and could be. He was always there for me, as well as anyone else who was in need. He gave without ever expecting anything in return. He was also admired and loved by his grandkids. If something needed to be done, it wasn’t uncommon to hear “where’s Papa?”. My dad was known as the man who could make or fix it all. God blessed him with a servants heart. He loved God and had a personal relationship with Jesus. This gives me comfort during this heart breaking time, that one day, we shall be together again. Even though my heart is broken, I take solace in knowing that you are not suffering anymore. I will continue to love and miss you everyday dad, not because you are just my dad but also my friend… Love, Brian

  22. RIP joe you were always so nice when you service my organs at the church I will never forget you all of musicians here in douglas county and west Georgia will miss you so much you have been there when we needed our organs fixed……😪😪😪

  23. I am so sad to just find out the demise of Mr. Joe Bannister. He was indeed one of the best Hammond organ technicians ever. He was very professional, timely and SOOO EFFICIENT! He assisted me in purchasing a restored Hammond organ when I was Minister of Music at West Hunter St. Baptist Church, and later serviced and restored the Hammond and Rogers organs when I was Director of Music at at Central UMC. I no longer serve at either church, but I thought of him recently, and have tried to reach out to him, not knowing he died. My sincere condolences to the family and all who knew him. He will be missed!! May he rest in heavenly, perpetual peace! Mrs. Rowena Dennard
