John Gordon Hendry, Jr.

John Gordon Hendry, Jr., 73, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away on January 24, 2018. John was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 15, 1944 to Lois Hoffeit and John Gordon Hendry, Sr. He attended Savannah High School in Savannah, Georgia before serving his country in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he made his home in Savannah, Georgia before settling in Kennesaw, Georgia as his home for the past 39 years. John was a member of American Legion Post 29, Acacia Lodge 452 F & A and Rite of Freemasonry, S.J.U.S.A. He will be remembered for his quick wit, humor and laugh. John leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Dianne, as well as children: Misty Hendry, Debbie Porterfield, John G. Hendry, III, Tony (Barbara) Mosley, Jodi Thomas and grandson, Jonathan Hendry. He is also survived by one brother, Walter Hendry, three sisters: Dianne (Jim) Brown, Paula Godbee, Donna (Wes) Douglass, his nieces and nephews and the rest of his family and friends. Besides being predeceased by his parents, John is also predeceased by his granddaughter, Amber Marie Hendry, and step-mother, Pauline Sapp. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Columbarium Chapel, Southern Cremations and Funerals at 1861 Dallas Highway, SW, Marietta, Georgia with interment at GA National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the Southern Cremations and Funerals Columbarium Chapel.
